Designing a service for travelling concert goers

The brief was to mash-up two existing apps / services to create a new concept. I combined Skyscanner and Bandsintown to create Getaway, a seamless experience for buying event tickets and booking related travel and accommodations.

Music is live concerts.
And live concerts are a pain.
Here’s what solves them.

Combine two existing services to create an animated mockup of a new service.

Travel and music have made a huge impact on who I am today. For this project, I chose to combine Skyscanner (a flight and accommodations aggregator) and BandsInTown (an event aggregator that helps users keep track of local events and shows featuring their favorite artists).

A combination of Skyscanner and Bandsintown – a streamlined experience for organizing events and related travel – expands the potential amount of shows people are able to attend.

To create my combined service “Getaway”, I incorporated modified versions of key micro-interactions from Skyscanner and Bandsintown to give the new service a sense of familiarity, and used them to create a new user journey.

The user signs up to Getaway using an account from their music streaming or social media platform of choice. Their location and artists of choice are used to generate a personalized listing of events and travel packages that can be booked in one click. I used Adobe XD to create the individual UI elements and animated them using Principle for Mac.

The final explainer video was created using Principle and Adobe Premiere Pro: using recorded narration, my own video footage from a music festival and a short snippet of the song Space Cowboy by saib.
